As a farmer I have a passion for cultivating life. My experience birthing two children has broadened my passion from cultivating what feeds human life to supporting women in their journey to parenthood.

What is a doula/birth keeper?
The late Jeannine Parvati Baker is responsible for coining the term birth keeper. Her work in supporting birthing women came from a place of total support for a women's ability to trust their bodies to birth naturally. While a modern doula's role is to serve and support expecting and birthing women without judgement as to what path the mother chooses to take in her birth; a birth keeper also supports women and babies from a place of empowerment. Empowering women to be in control of their birth and supporting women in making informed choices about how their children begin life on this planet. Our culture is generally lacking in its support for women when it comes to trusting our body's ability to birth. Our medically minded system comes from a place of control instead of trust. As a doula/birth keeper, I am dedicated to supporting women in the sacred journey of childbirth.
A doula/birth keeper does not replace the role of a midwife or medical professional's involvement in a birth and does not offer medical advice. While a midwife can focus on any medical needs that arise before, during or after a birth; a doula/birth keeper is there to provide physical and emotional support while also equipping the mother with the information she needs to feel confident in each decision she makes for her birth.
